The Audience Programme Board is one of the main outputs of the Be SpectACTive! Project, offering Nitra residents an opportunity to partake in the selection of the main programme of the International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra. A total of thirty-one locals from Nitra were involved in selecting 5 productions for the 28th festival year. The Audience Programme Board approved the following productions: Catch 22 (Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra), Moral Insanity (Prešov National Theatre), eu.genus (Med a prach), Sternenhoch (Opera, National Theatre Prague), The Depths (Wariot Ideal). The board’s selection resulted from meetings where audience members had the chance develop their knowledge of contemporary theatre under the guidance of theatre critic Miro Zwiefelhofer. Running from February to June, they came together at 7 meetings whose purpose was to evaluate productions and expand their knowledge about the festival and contemporary art. Board members could visit performances in the Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra and the State Opera in Banská Bystrica.
Spectators were also involved in selecting programme for the 29th International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra 2020 and recommended the following productions: The Norm (Theatre from the Passage), Winter’s Journey (Peter Mazalán), Love You and Take Care (NUDE Theatre), and The Czech Comedy about the Rich Man and Lazarus (Slovak Chambre Theatre in Martin). Almost 40 spectators participated in selections in 2020.
The spectators’ shortlist is the outcome of year-round meetings at which audience members can develop their knowledge about contemporary theatre under the guidance of theatre critic Miro Zwiefelhofer. Besides meetings, they also visit theatre performances and other events, take part as evaluators at the International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra and other communal activities. In 2020 most activities were held online.
An open call to participate in the Audience Programme Board 2021 will be published in February 2021.
