The exhibition space of bod.K7, the non-traditional Behind the Glass Gallery (Galéria Za sklom, the showcases from the street Radlinského and along the pedestrian zone) will show the power of visual culture and the fragility of human existence.
Gallery will offer passers-by another exhibition with an enigmatic title com.zoom. The author, visual artist Peter Decheť (born in 1979 in Topoľčany), is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, where he won the Dean’s Award for the best undergraduate thesis in 2018.
Petr Decheť´s art can be divided into series in which he reflects the phenomenon of power, collective memory, sacrifice, void, and deformation. He created a site-specific installation for bod.K7 entitled com.zoom. It follows on from his leitmotif to which he has been committed for quite some time. It is the function of an object in a state it was found, known as ready-made object. Decheť analyses the form and use, whilst examining the life of materials and what happens after the end of their main function; he creates new forms of their further use. It wants to point out sustainability, material fragility, life cycle, loss of function, and void.
The Petr Dechět exhibition is curated by Zuzana Novotová Godálová. It will be part of the year-round concept of the Behind the Glass Gallery, which underpins the theme of the 2022 International Festival Divadelná Nitra: fragility. Until the end of the year, the works of the exhibited artists will raise questions of importance and futility, strength and fragility, feelings of intimacy, vulnerability, fear and belonging. Sculptures, photographs, drawings, paintings, and ready-made objects will be presented in the Behind the Glass Gallery.
The com.zoom exhibition opens on Wednesday 11 May 2022 at 5.30 pm in the bod.K7 and will be accompanied by a curatorial introduction, and concert by the representative of social folk, Matej Tále.
