Common Ground Dialogues – International Symposium: Artistic Practices in Social Change
International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra and Common Ground Dialogues Project invite you to an international symposium, that brings together experts that explore how storytelling and theatre can serve as powerful tools for depolarization and social change. This event features presentations and discussions from members of the Common Ground Dialogues project and local practitioners, who will share their experiences.
The Common Ground Dialogues (CGD) project, Divadlo Aldente and Divadlo z Pasáže share a mission of fostering social inclusion and empathy through artistic expression. CGD uses storytelling to humanize complex issues and reduce societal divides, while Divadlo Aldente and Divadlo z Pasáže empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities by giving them a voice through theatre. Both initiatives demonstrate how art can bridge gaps and promote understanding among diverse groups, making their collaboration a powerful example of using artistic practices for social change.
This symposium aims to provide a comprehensive exploration of how storytelling and theatre can contribute to depolarization, education, finding empathy and mental health advocacy.

About the COMMON GROUND DIALOGUES project
An international project supported by the EU Creative Europe Programme, the project is being implemented between 2023 and 2024 in response to the growing polarisation of society, linked to the degradation of democratic values, the rise of inequality, the rise of populism, radicalism, racism and intolerance. To reduce the incidence of these negative phenomena, it uses the theatrical method of storytelling, which it focuses on various marginalised groups.
