For some time now, the people of Nitra have been calling for the revival of the pedestrian zone. Many cultural events largely are held on the square Svätoplukovo námestie throughout the year, while the pedestrian zone is just passable. The annual original Booksellers’ Fair KníhKupecká is on the calendar of events, but in 2025 it will be only held in the Autumn. The City of Nitra, namely the Committee of the City District 2 – Old Town, invites to revive the tradition of meeting and walking among the Old-Town residents as an event characteristically called the Old Town Promenade. Its pilot edition is held in cooperation with Divadelná Nitra and other partners. We will see the retro style in many areas – transport, music, crafts, books, clothing. Several businesses will participate along the parade route, and the participants (as usual – in period clothing) will enjoy an exhibition of veteran cars, a selection of antique items and books from the second-hand bookshop, the Furmani and a swing band. The atmosphere will be boosted by the delicacies of classic cuisine. Celebrated natives will be looking at us from oversize photographs.
