A Tulip for You is a year-long project organised by Association Divadelná Nitra focusing on education and integration of visually impaired children and activities that make the children’s lives more beautiful. It was founded in 2004 and is led to date by acad. sculpt. Elena Kárová.
Tulip Windows is but a brief snippet of our 18-year-long creative output. Hundreds of drawings, graffiti, sculptures and objects this exhibition could hardly contain. But even this fragment offers a clear testimony about the abilities of visually impaired children. About their dreams, joys and worries. Look into the depths of the perceptive world of children, the fairy-tale and the far-away, but also the world of ordinary things, including the current world of the pandemic and war in Ukraine. Children with residual vision use signal colours to better tell them apart, while black and white drawings are usually the work of colour-blind children. Look at the video and relief by phenomenal 12-year-old blind Veronika about the land of her dreams. May the peace in the children’s visions, in their dreamlands, with beloved animals, on beaches, in seas, in cities and on castle hilltops become the vision of adults and our own reality.
The exhibition is open from 31 March till 1 May 2022 in Behind the Glass Gallery of bod.K7 – (Štefánikova trieda 7, Nitra)
